I doubt she hopped any miles on the lake.
However, on the way, the remaining 2/3 of the original distance was 7040 yards.
So, the total distance can be found by solving
2/3 x = 7040
x = 10560 yd * 1mi/1760yd = 6 mi
However, on the way, the remaining 2/3 of the original distance was 7040 yards.
So, the total distance can be found by solving
2/3 x = 7040
x = 10560 yd * 1mi/1760yd = 6 mi

If I understand the English:
(2/3) x = 7040 yards (1 mile/1760 yards)
x = (3/2)(7040/1760) = 6 miles
(2/3) x = 7040 yards (1 mile/1760 yards)
x = (3/2)(7040/1760) = 6 miles

First of all, those previous answers were NOT true. I tried them, with my FULL trust and I got my first question wrong to a 30 question test, and now I have to restart. I have a feeling that all those other people after the original were just copying what he or he said. And I also feel that the first person that said 7040 did not know the answer and just put and numbers down.
