A cone is 3 inches high and has a base with a surface area of 7 square inches. What is the volume of the cone?
I thought the correct formula to use was 1/3(3.14)(r)^2(3), but not getting the correct answer. Please help.

The (3.14)(r)^2 part of the formula is the area of the base, and we know it is 7
so volume = (1/3)(7)(3) = 7 cubic inches
the volume of a cone = (1/3)(area of base)(height)

so volume = (1/3)(7)(3) = 7 cubic inches
the volume of a cone = (1/3)(area of base)(height)
