I am to solve this inequality:
2/3x < -12
I multiplied both sides by 3/2 to get x < -12(3/2)
x < -18

But the answer shows x < -9
What have I done wrong?

-12 is two-thirds of -18

maybe a misprint somewhere ...

You did nothing wrong, I agree with scott,
the answer "they" gave is incorrect

2/3x < -12
multiply by 3
2x < -36
divide by 2
x < -18
