I am to solve this inequality:
2/3x < -12

x < -18

But the answer shows x < -9
What have I done wrong?

You did nothing wrong, I agree with scott,
the answer "they" gave is incorrect

2/3x < -12
multiply by 3
2x < -36
divide by 2
x < -18
