A scale of 1:300000 means
1 cm on map = 300000 cm in actual distance
1 inch on map = 300000 inches in actual distance
etc
so 3.5 cm on map = 3.5(300000)cm in actual distance
= 1,050,000 cm in actual distance
= 10500 m in actual distance
= 10.5 km in actual distance
