Phrasal verb Fritter away
I frittered away so much money on my sister with the hope that she will study well. But, all my hopes were dashed away as she failed in her intermediate examination.

It is not wise to fritter money and time away without any purpose and goal.

In order to get a good rank, students should not fritter away their valuable time.
