Question
A certain curve (that is NOT the normal curve) is shown below. The curve is symmetric around 0, and the total area under the curve is 100%. The area between -1 and 1 is 58%.
What is the area to the right of 1?
I do not know how to do this because it is not a normal curve so I don't know how to find the area to the right of 1.

Answers
symmetric around zero means the the two sides are the same shape
zero is midway between -1 and 1
42% of the area is outside the -1 to 1 zone
... 21% on either side (symmetric)
so the area to the right of 1 is 21%
zero is midway between -1 and 1

... 21% on either side (symmetric)
so the area to the right of 1 is 21%
