On Saturday afternoon, 11 children and 5 adults went to visit a museum. Total cost for admission was $158. Adult tickets cost $6 more than children’s ticket. What is the price of an adult ticket ?

Let x = price of children ticket, and y = price of adult
(1) 11x + 5y = 158
(2) x + 6 = y
Substitute (2) into (1):
11x + 5(x+6) = 158
16x = 128
x = 8
y = 14
