find the absolute minimum of
f(x) = x - ln x

Answered by Reiny
f'(x) = 1 - 1/x
= 0 for a max/min
so 1/x = 1
x = 1
f(1) = 1 - ln1
= 1-0
= 1

so the min is 1 when x = 1
