I used the U-subsitution

(x + 1)^2 - 11 (x + 1) + 24

u^2 - 11u +24

(u + 3) (u - 8) should this be (u - 3)?

(x + 1 + 3) (x + 1 - 8)

(x + 4) (x - 7) or should it be (x - 2)

Can anyone explain which is the correct answer

Yes, both signs are negative.
(x+1-3)(x+1-8)
