3-6(t-7)= 8-5(2t+1)

7x+26-5x = 5x-2+x

I am not sure how to start these.

Any help?

Get rid of parentheses and combine like terms.

3 - 6(t-7) = 8 - 5(2t+1)

3 - 6t + 42 = 8 - 10t -5

42 = -4t

You should be able to continue from here and do the same process with the second equation.

I hope this helps. Thanks for asking.
multiply out parentheses first
3 - 6 t + 42 = 8 - 10 t - 5
combine like terms on left and on right
45 - 6 t = 3 - 10 t
add 10 t to both sides
45 + 4 t = 3
subtract 45 from both sides
4 t = - 42
divide both sides by 4
t = - 10.5

check
3 - 6 (-10.5-7) = 8 - 5 (2*-10.5 + 1) ????
3 + 63 + 42 = 8 +105 - 5 ???
108 = 108 check Caramba !
