                An athletic trainer for Newcastle United in England keeps track of the amount of water players drink during preseason training. The trainer observed that the amount of water consumed is a linear function of the temperature in a a given day. The trainer find that when it is 53 degrees F the players consume about 164 gallons of Powerade, and when it’s 63 degrees F the players consume about 214 gallons of Powerade
A) write a linear function to model the relationship between the gallons of water consumed and the temperature
B) explain the meaning of the slope in the context of this problem

    using slope-intercept form,
y = mx+b
so,
53m+b=164
63m+b=214
now solve for m and b
or, using point-slope form,
since the slope is (214-164)/(63-53) = 5
y-164 = 5(x-53)
