james is taking a test in his geomtery class. His teacher asked him to determine the equation of the line perpendicular to the line 2x-y=-3 and passing through the point (8,2) , which line should he choose.

A. y+ 1/2x=6
B.y+2x=18
C. y-2x=-14
D. y +1/2x=9

perpendicular means slopes are negative-reciprocals

easiest to see in point-slope ... y = 2x + 3

so -1/2 is the new slope ... A or D

plug in the point (8,2) to check which one
