In the sentence: "Dr. Phil counseled the mother of a four-year-old who weighs 150 lbs."

Would it be better to say, "Dr. Phil counseled the mother of a child who weighs 150 lbs."

Because wouldn't the first sentence be considered wrong because it states the childs age?

The child's age is extremely important. Remember that children are those between birth and age 18.

It is of more importance to establish who weighs 150 lbs, the child or the mom.

Dr. Phil counseled the mother of a 150 lb 4-year-old.
