I need help with one question.
-6q+5.8=23.8

So first I add 6 to each side to cancel the 6, but do I add it to the 5.8 or the 23.8?

I kinda need to get walked through the problem. . .

Thanks!

No, first you subtract 5.8 from each side

You cannot separate the 6 from the q by addition, since 6q is a product, not a sum. After the subtraction, you have

-6q = 18

Now divide both sides by -6 and you are left with

q = -3
