Solve In(5x+7) = 8. Round to the nearest thousandth.

Can someone walk me through this?

no parenthesis are needed.

5x+7=8

I would take the 7 and subtract is from 7 and 8
the new equation would look like this
5x= 1

then you would take 5/5 and 1/5 and then there’s your answer. I’m not the greatest at math but this is how I’d do it :)

ln(5x+7) = 8
5x+7 = e^8
5x = e^8 - 7
x = (e^7 - 7)/5

just recall that ^ and log (or ln) are inverse operations, just like

+ and -
* and /
√ and ^2

Subtract 7 from both sides of the equation.
5x=e8−7

Divide each term by 5 and simplify.
