you and a friend are collecting leaves.In your collection of 45 leaves, 4 are oak leaves. In your friend's collection of 36 leaves, 3 are oak leaves. Whose collection has a greater fraction of oak leaves?

how do i convert it into a fraction?

The fractions are 4/45 and 3/36. Fraction means part divided by the whole.

To make it even clearer, you can convert both fractions to the same denominator, but that involves some big numbers.

Let's try estimating.

4/45 = just under 4/44 or 1/11
3/36 = 1/12

1/11 is a smaller fraction than 1/12
