I'm writing an essay about the positive effects of homeschooling, but I'm having trouble writing my introduction.
Can anyone help me with writing a good, eye catching first sentence?
Thanks!!!!

Want to sleep until noon?

Tired of being bullied?

You have a much better idea than I do because I don't know what you've said in your essay.

Wouldn't those sentences be more suitable for a persuasive essay?
Answered by Ms. Sue
Isn't your essay a type of persuasive essay since you've only written about the positive side of homeschooling?

But as I said, I don't know what your essay says.

I can't introduce something I don't know.

My essay is supposed to be stating a generalization (opinion based on fact) and then supporting it with evidence. So my generalization is: Homeschooling has many positive effects on students.

Why don't you start with an anecdote about a positive effect on one student?

Could you give me an example? I was thinking about incorporating an anecdote but I didn't know how i could fit it in

Joe used to be in trouble all of the time. He mouthed off to teachers and got into fights on the playground. Homeschooling has relieved some of his stress and he feels much better about himself now.
