If a federal officer who knew about a crime involving a minor's use of drugs but they did not report the crime, what would the consequences be for the officer, if any at all?

There are so many variables -- like type of drugs, minor's age and involvement, officer's knowledge. We certainly can't pronounce judgement without knowing these and many more facts.
