Can someone help? The way the question is worded is confusing me.

You earn 10 points for every coin you collect in a video game. Then you find a star that triples your score.

a. write an expression for the number of points you earn from the coins.

b. write and simplify an expression for the total number of points you earn.

I usually do not like giving away full answers, but I believe that a.) would be
y=10(3)x
with y being your total points earned, 30 being your new score from the tripled scores, and x standing for the number of coins you get.
b.) Should be y=30x, the "simplified" form.
