A vector has both a strength or size or "magnitude" and a direction:
For example
Speed is a scalar, measure with a speedometer
like 10 meters/second
Velocity is a vector. You need BOTH the speedometer for the magnitude (which is the speed) and a COMPASS for the direction
like 10 meters /second North West
