mass is the amount of material in something,weight is the effect of gravity on it, that is, how much pull gravity exerts on a mass.
Forcegravity=mass*Gravity field strength
on Earth, at the surface of Earth, the Gravity field strength is 9.8N/kg
If you are interested to work this thru, a N/kg is the same as m/s^2, and of course 9.8m/s^2 is the acceleration of a falling object at Earth's surface.
