2Na(s) + 2HCl (aq) -> 2NaCl (aq) + H2 (g)
1. IF 2.5G OF SODIUM REACTS WITH AN EXCESS OF HYDROCHLORIC ACID, WHAT VOLUME OF HYDROGEN WILL BE PRODUCED?
My working:
Na H2
mass-2.5 0.109
mr-23 2
moles-0.109 0.543
volume
0.109 X 24000 = 2608.696cm3
Is that right?
2.HOW MUCH SODIUM WOULD BE REQUIRED TO PRODUCE 36dm3 OF H2?
I am very confused please help I did my working for the first quesrtion but am not sure if its right and am VERY confused for the second question.

For #1, you could have explained better as to the meaning of your numbers. First, however, the volume can be anything because you don't state the temperature or pressure. If 24,000 is the number you are using for the volume of 1 mol at the conditions of the problem, then #1 is right.
2. Again you don't post the conditions but I will assume that 1 mol H2 will occupy 24,000 dm3 at the conditions in the problem. Now you just work backwards from what you did for part 1.
mols H2 = 36 cm3/22,400 = ?
mols Na = ?mols H2 x (2 mols Na/1 mol H2) = ?
Then g Na = mols Na x molar mass Na.

DrBob222 I thought that 24,000 was for cm3 not dm3

When it says "HOW MUCH?" is it talking about the mass or the moles?
If its talking about the moles is the answer 3 moles?
If its talking about the moles is the answer 3 moles?
