Study linking verbs and subject complements and any other grammatical terms here. Then let us know what you decide.

Hint: That particular sentence has no indirect object in it.
Ms. Sue
The complement includes the nouns, adjectives, and/or pronouns after the verb.

The subject and verb are:
Football is

So -- the rest of the sentence is the complement.

a sport and also entertainment

If the complements mean the same or describe the subject, they are predicate nouns.

If they receive the action of the verb, they are direct objects.

What kind of complement do you think this is?

Mark
Ohhhhh. A sport and also entertainment is the compliment (Predicate noun) Right?
Ms. Sue
Yes, right!
Mark
Okay, thank you guys!
Ms. Sue
You're welcome, Mark.

Just in case Mark ever comes back to re-read this:

Only the nouns are considered predicate nouns. The words the, a, and, also (etc.) are not parts of the predicate nouns although they do serve to describe and connect them.
