log<sub>4</sub>x+log<sub>4</sub>12=log<sub4</sub>48

recall log (AB) = log A + log B

so log<sub>4</sub>x + log<sub>4</sub>12 = log<sub>4</sub>48 becomes
log<sub>4</sub>(12x) = log<sub>4</sub>48
then
12x = 48
x = 4
