Question

I have a select-multiple question, and I am not sure about everything and I only get one try in my online class...would really appreciate if you could please explain which to select:

What is true about momentum value?
a)When you muliply mass (a scalar) by velocity (a vector), the result is momentum (a vector) -- I selected this one

b)You must multiply two vectors in order to result in a vector -- didn't do this one, because you can multiply scalar by vector

c)The direction of the momentum vector is the same as the velocity vector -- selected this one, confirmed with Google

d)The magnitude of the momentum vector is dependent on the mass -- didn't select this one, because I thought it also depends on velocity

e)The direction of the momentum vector is dependent on the mass -- didn't select this, because mass is scalar

Where am I going wrong with what to select? I just want a second opinion before I use my only attempt...thanks!

I agree with all of your selections.

d) is poorly worded. Of course the magnitude depends on the mass --- but also on the absolute value of the velocity vector
|P| = m |V|

so it does not depend ONLY on the mass but does depend on the mass.

Thanks! The answer was all my original selections plus choice d). :)
