I changed percentages to decimals.
1.25 -.40 = ?
1.00 - ? = ??

Let x be the starting temperature.
y=1.25x
z=y-.4y=1.25x-.4(1.25x)=.75x
So the final temperature is 75% of the original temperature.
y=1.25x
