If 3/x= 6, then x-1=
Multiply by x.
3 = 6x
3/6 = 1/2 = x
Proof: 3/(1/2) = 3 * 2 = 6
Multiply by x.
3 = 6x
3/6 = 1/2 = x
Proof: 3/(1/2) = 3 * 2 = 6

Also if there is another problem similar to this one. Where the x is the denominator. Would you always move it to the other side?
Answered by
Ms. Sue
You need to multiply both sides by the denominator.
