    The history of Poland is far too complicated for that question. Many "colonization" efforts in Poland were made by Germans though. Moreover I do not know which Russian-Polish war you mean. Catherine the Great?

    LOL - I think that is usually called the "partition"  of Poland. That was indeed Catherine the Great of Russia plus the two Germanic countries of Prussia and Austria.
