We can't see a diagram on this forum. However, one way a staircase of 12 blocks could be built is:
First step is 2 blocks wide and 1 block tall (2 blocks)
Second step is 2 blocks wide and 2 blocks tall (4 blocks)
Third steps is 2 blocks wide and 3 blocks tall (6 blocks)
This uses a total of 2+4+6 = 12 blocks.
Keep building stairs onto that, using the pattern you see, until you get to a total of 56 blocks. Then count how many stairs you have in total.
