THERE IS 1/2 A PAN OF BROWNIES LEFT. FOUR CHILDREN ARE GOING TO SHARE IT EQUALLY. WHAT FRACTION OF THE WHOLE PAN OF BROWNIES WILL EACH CHILD GET?

Let's try it both ways.
(1/2) / 4 = (1/2) * (1/4) = 1/8
Ohh -- they are the same!
Each child gets 1/8 of the pan.
