A car used 8 gallons of gas to travel 340 miles a mechanic fixed the car. Then it used 7 gallons of gas to travel 350 miles. Gas cost $4.00 per gallon. How much less to the nearest cent per mile did it cost to run the car after mechanic fixed it

8gal/340mi * $4.00/gal = $0.0941/mi
7gal/350mi * $4.00/gal = $0.0800/mi

340/8 = 42.5 mpg

350/7 = 50 mpg

The answer is 0.01. because
(4) (8)=32 dollar
(32) (1/340)=0.09
And
(4) (7)=28 dollar
(28) (1/350)=0.08

0.09
- 0.08
--------------------
0.01
So the answer is 0.01 dollar
