How many squares in the plane have two or more vertices on dots in this 2x3 grid? All dots are an equal distance from their nearest neighbours. *diagonal squares count*
--------------------------------------
I can only get 18, but some of my class members can get at least 30.

a 2x3 grid (6 dots) has 15 pairs
each of the pairs can be an edge or a diagonal
some squares involve 4 dots
... some, only two

There are 6 dots, because it is a 2x3 square.
