rearrange the equation
X+6y=18
to x=18-6y to get x by itself
sub x into the other equation and solve for y
2(18-6y)-3y=-24
y=.....
then sub the y value back into x= 18-6y to get what x is
x=18-6(....)

write them as
4x-6y = -48
x+6y = 18
add them together and you get
5x = -30
