The Cougars won 62% of their games. They won 93 games. How many games did they lose?
I'm not exactly sure how to approach this I tried to divide 93 by .62 but that didn't quite exactly work out and I'm not sure how to find the whole with only different ways of putting the games that they won.

Total number of games=x, therefore 62% of x=93,find x.then number of games lost=x-93

You're on the right track.
0.62x = 93
x = 93/0.62
x = 150 games played
150 - 93 = ______ games lost
0.62x = 93
x = 93/0.62
x = 150 games played
150 - 93 = ______ games lost

wait so it would be 57 games lost because I got that and I just thought the number was wrong

Yes, they lost 57 games.
It makes sense. They won more than half of their 150 games, so they lost less than half of them.

You move the decimal in 62% two spaces to the left. Then you get 0.62. You multiply 0.62 by 93. You get 57.66, but you obviously cant win a decimal of a game so you round up so its 58 games. Hope this helped you!
