I'm doing a small essay on water pollution (like nuclear radiation accidents, trash, etc.). I just need one final question answered to finish this but I need some help.

"Discuss steps that can be taken by individuals, businesses, and/or governments to reduce this threat."

I'm not asking you to write it for me, but if I could get some ideas to write it that would be amazing.

stop throwing trash into waterways.
stop draining sewage into ditches
stop washing fertilizers into waterways
cease using phosphate deterrents, including in car washes.
stop urinating in swimming pools.
stop throwing trash into streets (the rain carries them to the storm sewers).
