It kept the same balance of slave and free states. Maine was admitted as a free state, while Missouri was a slave state.

It might help if you would list lesson number instead of accusing someone of being wrong or right.
as of now they changed it I guess? idk but now for the swctuibalism practice its:
1. C- it kept the number...
2. C- it denied congress...
3. A- allow slavery where... & C- prohibit slavery in...
4. D- to show that the south could not...
5. A- military leadership
6. B- the conferacy did not...
7. C- fight a defensive war and wait for...
8. B- the battle took place...
9. B- freed African American slaves in both...
