Help! I have to write an essay and need to know similarities between texting and sign language. I already have using hands, no vocalization, and conveying your thoughts but I need three more.

Sometimes (in both) there are shortened forms so that a commonly understood shortcut can be expressed more quickly. In text messages, we refer to them as "text speak" (btw, lol, @, smh, and many others, as you no doubt know!). In sign language, you undoubtedly know some -- words and phrases that don't need to be fully spelled out.

That's one more. What else can you think of?
