What is the rule for the function shown in the table?
______________________
| x | -1 | 0 | 1 | 2 |
| y | -2 | 1 | 2 | 7 |
A. y = ⅓x + 1
B. y = 3x + 1
C. y = ⅓x
D. y = ½x + 1
I haven't been able to find a pattern that fits within the given numbers, and I know for a fact C is incorrect. I can't decide between either A or D. Which one of these is correct?

No wonder you could not find the pattern, since the pattern is not linear, that is, there is no common equal slope between any of the ordered pairs.
All the choices represent linear functions, so there is no match.
No pattern can be established from just those 4 points.
Is there a typo?
