14 x^2 -12 x^2 = 2 x^2 3 x + 11 x = 14 x 4 - 3 = 1 so 2 x^2 + 14 x + 1 ============================ 4 x^2 - 2 x^2 = 2 x^2 -5 x + 1 x = - 4 x +4 + 8 = 12 so what do you think ?

gather like terms..combine...simplify 2. x^2(4-2)+x(-5+1)+8+4 2x^2-4x+12
