(-6.8)²
=(-1)²(6.8)²
=(1)(46.24)
=46.24

Be aware of usage of parentheses, for example:
(-2)²
=(-1²)(2²)
=(1)(4)
=4
BUT
-2²
=-(2²)
=-(4)
=-4
