You are driving your rental cars only about 1/2 mile and the other at 1/4 mile?
I would just walk the distance.

The answer is to drive the $40 per day car .72 miles per day.
Car 1 is getting 0.45 miles (mi) per (/) 25 Dollars (USD). To simplify divide 0.45 mi by 25 USD and you could state:
Car 1 is getting 0.018 mi/1USD
Car 2 is getting 0.25 mi /40USD
or Car 2 is getting 0.00625 mi /1USD
How much more does car 1 get than Car 2?
0.018mi - .00625 mi = 0.01175 more miles dollar.
So to get equal value out of both cars I would drive Car 2 the .25 miles a day plus the difference in value from car 1:
0.25 mi + (0.01175 mi X 40 USD) = 0.72 miles.
You could also just divide 0.018/0.00625=2.88
2.88x.25=0.72
Math is fun. Different ways to get the same right answer.
