The dimensions in inches of a shipping box can be expressed as width x, length x + 1, and height x - 4. The volume is 84 ft^3. Find the dimensions of the box in feet.

1, 1, 4
2, 2, 21
2, 6, 7
3, 4, 7

Please help? If somebody can help put this into an equation for me, I can do the rest. Thanks

w = x
L = (x+1)
H = (x-4)

w L H = 84
so
x(x+1)(x-4) = 84

but the easy way is to look at the answers listed
7 is one bigger than 6
4 is one bigger than 3
so it must be one of the last two
if x = W = 6
L=7
H=6-4 = 2
that works
if x =W= 4
L = 5 etc, does not work
so
2,6,7 works

(a cubic has more than one solution)
