Each free cube has a surface area of 6(10²)=600 cm² exposed.
Each cube with one face connected has 5(10²)=500 cm² exposed.
Each cube with two faces connected has 4(10²)=400 cm² exposed.
If n cubes are joined together, there are 2 (end) cubes with one face connected, and all (n-2) interior cubes have two faces connected.
The total (exposed) surface area is then
= 2(500)+(n-2)(400) cm²
substitute n=six and evaluate the answer.
