Please show me how to simplify:

(p^2+4p-23)-(3p^2-23p-23)

Collect like tems firrst

in p^2: 1-3 = -2
in p 4: + 23 = +27
numbers: -23 + 23 = 0

so we have
-2 p^2 + 27 p

you could write that as
-p(2p-27)
