Maya's school held an aluminum collection program in which they collected aluminum and brought it to be recycled. In the first week, Maya collected 4/20 lb of aluminum and her friend Abigail collected 7/8 lb.
a. which girl collected more aluminum?

LCM ( Least Common Multiple ) for 8 and 20 = 40

a.

4 / 20 = 4 * 2 / 20 * 2 = 8 / 40


7 / 8 = 7 * 5 / 8 * 5 = 35 /40

Abigail collected more aluminum.

b.

8 / 40 + 35 / 40 =

43 / 40 =

( 40 + 3 ) / 40 =

40 / 40 + 3 / 40 =

1 + 3 / 40 = 1.075lb

A)Abigail collected more aluminum.
B) Abigail: 7/8 x 5/5= 35/40
Maya: 4/20 x 2/2= 8/40

35/40 - 8/40= 27/40

This is what I did. You don't need to put in the last part though. I hope this helps!🥰
