This problem seems like it can be treated almost like a math problem.
We know that one kilogram is equal to one-thousand grams and that one slice of ham is seven grams and two slices of bread are fifty grams total (twenty-five grams each). So you just need to see how many times seven grams goes into one-thousand grams (1000 / 7 = 994 Remainder 6) and how many times 50 grams will go into 1000 grams (1000 / 50 = 20).
The slices of bread come out to be our limiting ingredient. We can only make twenty sandwiches with the bread we're given so that means we need to use up 20 slices of ham.
20 x 7 = 140
1000 - 140 = 860
We're left with 860 grams of ham left and no bread left.
The total weight of our twenty sandwiches is:
20 x (7 + 50) = 1140 grams.
2. A ham sandwich consists of one slice of ham (7grams) and two slices of bread (25 grams each). You have 1kg of ham and 1kg of bread. You make as many as you can. How many sandwiches did you make? What is the mass of the sandwiches? What is the mass of the ingredients that is left over?
