James and slyvie need to paint the line around the soccer field. To know how much paint to buy they must find out the perimeter of the field.
James claims, "I can calcuate the perimeter of the field by using the formula P= 2(l+w) while slyvie says that the correct formula is P= 2l+2w
Who is correct? is it possible for both to be correct? I need to provide evidence to support my answer.
I first thought they were both correct but the formula for finding perimeter isnt 2xl+2xw right? Im confused :/

2L is the same as 2 times L or 2xl.
You're right that both James and Slyvie are correct.
