5x+7=10.
Here is an example.
A yard worker charges 7 dollars travel fee to mow someone's yard. He charges five dollars for every hour he works. How long does he work if the total cost of his services is 10 dollars?
The amount of time he works is x.
The answer is .6 hours. So all together,
5x+7=10
5(the cost per hour)x(.6 hours)+7(travel fee)=10(total cost.)
5(.6)+7=10
3+7=10.
Does that make sense?
