Suppose that you work part time as a sales representative at a car dealership. You earn a base salary of $125 per week plus a 18% commission on all sales that you make. Your best friend has exactly the same job at another car dealership but earning a base salary of $85 per week plus a 21% commission on all sales. How much do you and your friend need to sell in order to earn the same amount in any given week?

earnings1=125+.18Sales1
earnings2=85+.21Sales2
so if earnings1=earnings2
125+.18Sales1=85+.21Sales2
Now if both have the same sales per week (and total earnings were the same), then sales1=sales2)
125+.18Salesboth=85+.21salesboth
.03salesboth=40
salesboth=40/.03=4000/3=1333
This problem is weird, frankly.
