a^2 + b^2 = 36

a + b + 6 = 14 so a = 8-b

64 - 16 b + 2 b^2 =36

2 b^2 - 16 b + 28 = 0

b^2 - 8 b + 14 = 0

b = [ 8 +/- sqrt (64 -56) ]/2

b = [ 8 +/- 2sqrt 2 ]/2

b = 4+/-sqrt 2
if b = 4+sqrt 2
a = 4 - sqrt 2
A = (1/2)ab
= (1/2)(16-2) = 7 m^2
